The Galloways have been working in Scotland since 1985. After initially working with the Castlemilk congregation in Glasgow, they helped to start a new work in Glasgow’s West End. They worked with this congregation for almost twenty years. In 2007 they were asked to work with the congregation in East Kilbride, to the southeast of Glasgow. This congregation has been here since 1971 and is Arlene’s home congregation.

The work in East Kilbride has proved to be quite challenging. After a few difficult years, the congregation is working together and trying to reach those in this town of 75,000 with the good news of Jesus. Numbering around thirty Christians, this group has a desire to grow spiritually as well as to grow in number.

Jon and Arlene have three grown children. David and Bethany live in the United States (Memphis and Austin) while Scott is working in Glasgow. Scott is engaged to Rachelle Boyns and they are looking forward to getting married in June.

In addition to working with the East Kilbride congregation, Jon has served as a teacher for the British Bible School since 1994, most recently co-teaching “The Letters of Peter and Jude” in their extension programme in East Kilbride, Aberdeen, and London (fall of 2015). He has also served as a governor for the school since 2006.

This past summer Jon began to write on a regular basis. In July he became a staff writer for Forthright, a web-based teaching magazine (edited by Randal Matheny – forthright.net). He has a weekly column entitled “Bible Bytes” which is designed to encourage Bible reading. In September he became a co-editor of The Christian Worker. This magazine began in 1969 and is designed to exchange news and ideas among the congregations in the United Kingdom. Trevor Williams is the ‘editor-in-chief’ and Jon serves as the production editor. It is published as a pdf and e-mailed to UK congregations and other who subscribe. He also writes for a new teaching magazine produced by the British Bible School, BiBloS (it can be found at their website, britishbibleschool.com) – the first issue was in the spring of 2015. This is a directory of churches of Christ in the British Isles.
